LACMA and Downtown Los Angeles Engagement Session
January 21, 2012
So downtown and Los Angeles in general is a new playground for some of my engagement settings. I’m rarely in downtown LA unless I’m there to catch a hockey game at the Staples Center but I’m becoming more and and more fond of the visual elements that downtown LA has to offer. Kaitlan and Brian, the stars of this shoot, knew that this would be a good setting for their engagement session due to their familiarity with the area and Brian’s knowledge of visual art. As it turns out Brian is a video artist so the pressure was on… Although downtown LA is a long distance in mileage and scenery from the vineyards of Santa Ynez it is not really that much different from the urban setting of San Francisco where I regularly shoot on my free time.
Being an Anaheim Ducks Fan and San Francisco Giants fan not withstanding I really enjoy what the Los Angeles environment has to offer visually.
We started at Los Angeles Central Library and simply explored the area from there. The idea was to move over to the “Lamp Instalation” at LACMA when we were satisfied with downtown. The truth is I could have continued shooting downtown all night. Anyway LACMA was on the agenda so we sacrificed sunset to catch LACMA at night where I think we got some great images. You can be the judge!
Check out some of my favorites…
