Santa Barbara Engagement Photography / Carpinteria Bluffs and Santa Barbara Mission
December 4, 2010
Emily and Evan are one of my Orange County Wedding couples who were nice enough to come up to Santa Barbara for their engagement photography. It’s always fun when people who don’t live here come up for their engagement pictures so I can act as a tour guide as well.
This was kind of a short engagement shoot for me. We started down at the Carpinteria Bluffs before taking a break to grab some lunch at The Palace Grill in downtown. After lunch we picked back up with the engagement pictures at the Santa Barbara Mission.
This was a really fun shoot for me too because Evan, who works professionally with drum scanning equipment, requested that I shoot some Kodak Ektar. I got out the Mamiya 645, loaded it with Ektar and went to the shoot. While I was at it I decided to load the 35mm camera with some good old fashioned Tri X.
Although I enjoy digital photography and it certainly has its perks, I’ve never let go of my attachment to shooting film. I usually shoot a roll or two of real silver process black and white at weddings and often fire off a few frames with a Holga but Emily and Evan’s engagement shoot was a good chance to shoot a lot more film. Check out some of my analog and digital favorites…
